a trip from Mersin back home with my sister and parents
6 hours in the car and up in the mountains,
without signal or internet. the exhaled, built-up,
and unspoken aggression settles on my
shoulders as tension.
in moments like this, i feel deeply unprotected.
i turn toward the window and take out my phone.

process

research and brainstorming

Ganna took photos with her phone while being in the car, so they came out smeared, but that is what makes them special, in my opinion. So when Ganna sent those photos to our group chat with some of our other friends i imedieatly wanted to do something with those photos, so i came up with this idea of well-put together book



drafts and work

i made this project in one sitting, i put all photos in photoshop and experimented with stretching and cropping them. i used simple font (narrow arial) throughout all this work to make it even simpler and to focus on photos rather then on typography. after finishing that i also made a video of photos re-appearing on screen with "Space Orphans" by Ichiko Aoba playing in the background


self-reflection

i am really proud of this work because it was first one of that kind work to do, it turned out to be really accurate to what Ganna felt and experienced, as she said later. it was nice to feel, to experience how differentley we seen those photos and how we interpreted them






inspiration

i was inspired by modern graphic design (bold, simple design with plain white background and font not overshadowing photography), as well as Ichiko Aoba music
